Washington County’s ‘Teacher of the Year’ recognized at Monday night’s School Board meeting ………

Washington County’s 2018 Teacher of the Year, Erin Harris of Kate M. Smith Elementary School, was recognized by the VFW, Washington County Chamber of Commerce and One South Bank at Monday night’s meeting of the Washington County School Board.

 

 

Erin Harris was thanked for her service to the Washington County School District and recognized for mentoring of young people throughtout her career.

 

During Monday night’s meeting, Harris shared the spotlight with Shane Sapp who she described as a 10 year vet who served his country proudly as an infantry soldier who was stationed in Washingon, Germany and Louisiana and spent 25 months deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.  She noted that he had multiple awards throughout his time of service — including the Bronze Star with Valorfor various various actions during combat while deployed to Afghanistan.

 

 

Harris, not pictured here,  received accolades from the VFW Post for garnering both a local and District Teacher of the Year recognition.
