The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that 68-year-old Terry Alfred Whitehead, of Alford, Florida died Saturday night in a crash on US 231 in Jackson County.
According to the FHP, Whitehead was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma in the outside southbound lane on US 231 when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The Tacoma traveled onto the west shoulder continuing to travel south.
Whitehead then overcorrected back to the left and the vehicle traveled back onto the roadway, traveling across both southbound lanes and into the median. At that time the driver steered the vehicle back to the right and began to rotate clockwise. The Toyota began to overturn, traveling into the northbound lanes.
Whitehead was ejected from the Toyota onto the roadway. The vehicle came to final rest in the northbound lane.
