Marianna’s Chipola College Reverts To Online Classes Following Thanksgiving 2020- Local Colleges Potentially Benefit

By | October 4, 2020

Plagued by diminishing enrollment, the COVID-19 pandemic is allowing Chipola College in Marianna, Florida to revert to online classroom study, saving cost and perhaps the health of their students in the process.

Chipola College initially went to online classes in March 2020, in response to state mandates about social distancing.

Chipola College President Sarah Clemmons has the led the charge toward a user-friendly array of class options since the return to physical classroom instruction, but says now that following the 2020 Thanksgiving school break  on November 30, 2020, all classes will go back to that online or ‘virtual’ format.

In addition, final exams will also be given online, and students will be asked not to return to campus after November 30, 2020, except by appointment.

Other area post-secondary colleges, such as Florida Panhandle Technical College in Chipley, Florida, are the beneficiaries of this movement, with a robust on-campus enrollment which has increased over the past several years, with many classes being closed due to full capacity.

FPTC is now enrolling Florida and Alabama students in the 2020-2021 Florida Panhandle Technical College array of programs, and financial aid is available.

Interested high school students and adults should contact Florida Panhandle Technical College, drop by Student Services at 757 Hoyt Street in Downtown Chipley, or visit www.FPTC.edu or call 850-638-1180 extension 317 on Monday through Friday from 8AM until 3PM for information.
