Dothan City Schools employees will be required to wear a mask, even after the Governor’s mask mandate expires on April 9.
According to a post on the district’s Facebook page Saturday, “the Dothan City Board of Education has directed that the mask order for ALL DCS employees be extended through the remainder of the school year.”
That decision means teachers and staff will continue wearing masks on campus into early June.
For students, DCS officials say they will lift the mask requirement beginning April 12. “Students may continue to wear a mask if they choose so,” the post stated.
Governor Kay Ivey announced last Thursday she would end the statewide mask mandate on Friday, April 9 and pledged not to renew the order at that time.
