The City of DeFuniak Springs will host its annual LakeFest festival weekend event beginning Friday, May 14, through Sunday, May 16, 2021, in Chipley Park on Circle Drive in historic DeFuniak Springs, FL.  Free admission and parking.

LakeFest 2021 is a 3-day festival hosted and orchestrated by the City of DeFuniak Springs celebrating safe, family-friendly outdoor recreational activities in the water and on the banks of beautiful Lake DeFuniak.

In addition to educational booths and exhibits relating to the City’s, State’s and region’s natural resources, the City collaborates with numerous government agencies and nonprofit organizations to host kids’ activities, live entertainment, free paddling activities, a car show, parade, cardboard boat races, paddling competitions, food/merchandise vendors, butterfly garden tours at the library, a historic district bike tour, disc golf activities with a nighttime disc golf course, and free primitive tent camping on the festival grounds for those who sign up for various events with their kayak or bicycle or other sporting gear/equipment.  This year’s event also includes a triathlon.

“We’re excited to host LakeFest this year,” says DeFuniak Springs Mayor Bob Campbell.  “We had to cancel the 2020 program due to COVID, but now that vaccines are making our communities and group gatherings safer, we felt we could host the event in mid-May. We know it’s going to be an exciting event this year for all of us.”

The kickoff day of the festival is Friday, May 14, which will include a fish fry, live evening entertainment at the Amphitheatre and overnight primitive camping.  Saturday, May 15, includes the festival, triathlon, historic district bike tour, nighttime disc golf and overnight camping.  Sunday, May 16, will include a rap-up activity for campers who will check out by noon.

The developing schedule and event details on LakeFest 2021 are presented on the City’s website at www.defuniaksprings.net in the Visitors section.
