Washington County School Superintendent Joe Taylor said Monday afternoon that  District personnel are still looking at completion of the new admin building by the end of June 2018.

Taylor and School Board members met Monday with a representative of CRA Architects to discuss possible plans for the layout of the building, floor covering, lighting, and interior/exterior paint colors.

In addition to space for public meetings, the updated facility will provide meeting space, storage space,  kitchen space, and will be handicapped accessible.

Also up for discussion Monday were plans for upgrading the Chipley High School football field.

Those plans include new bathroom facilities and a concession stand.  Discussing the concession stand, the school board members were very clear that they want input from those groups that will be using those facilities.  It was pointed out there is a lot of outdoor cooking done in connection with the concession stand and they want to be assured those areas are adequate.

All of the issues discussed Monday will be brought up again at the Feb. 12th meeting of the Washington County School Board to be held at 5 p.m. at the District Office in Chipley.  However, the Board members announced they will meet at 4 p.m. that date to make final decisions concerning the lighting, exterior paint colors and floor coverings for the administrative building so they can proceed with bid documents at the Feb. 12th meeting.
