During a workshop and meeting Monday morning the TDC board announced the appointment of Aaron Miller to the board, pending his approval by the Washington County Board of County Commissioners.

Miller, formerly a Ranger with the Florida Park Service at Ponce de Leon State Park, a Park Manager at Florida Caverns State Park, and Park Manager at Torreya State Park took over the duties as Park Manager at Falling Waters State Park on Jan. 1, 2018.
Miller, who will be taking over the Seat 9 position on the local TDC, is a native of Holmes County, but now lives in Washington County. He grew up in the Bethlehem community and has been with the Park Service since 2009. His residual term will end Sept. 30, 2018.
Washington County Commissioner Todd Abbott represented the County at Monday’s meeting and expressed his appreciation for outstanding job the City of Chipley did in decorating downtown Chipley for the Christmas holidays. Chipley Councilman Tommy Sasser (also a TDC board member) was also proud of the decorations and thanked the TDC for their role in making the downtown look particularly festive for the holiday. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett and TDC Vice Chairman David Rich also expressed pride in the downtown Chipley holiday decorations and everyone agreed plans are already being made for the 2019 Christmas decorations.
In separate action, the TDC board members approved a motion to apply for three grants – $2,000 for an educational project; $5,000 for a PR campaign; and $2,500 for an advertising matching grant.
In other action, the TDC board members announced they would be holding a workshop at a later date to review their updated TDC ‘Policy & Procedures Manua.
