Last week, on Friday, March 2, 2018,  the Washington County Board of County Commissioners made the decision to fund School Resource Officers (SRO’s) on every K-12 campus in the County.

At that time there were a total of three SRO’s between Chipley and Vernon, and the decision was made to fund three additional positions, so that the six K-12 schools would be covered by an SRO.

Here is a ‘Real Florida Magazine’ Interview with Vernon, Florida Middle School Principal Kim Register, School Resource Officer John Pettis and Washington County, Florida Commission Chairman Tray Hawkins on Monday, March 5, 2018, discussing school safety and Washington County’s decision to hire the new SRO’s for all schools in Washington County in Florida.
