On Friday, March 9, a Chipley Police Department Patrol Officer conducted a traffic stop of a silver SUV on Highway 90 after observing an equipment violation.
Officers on scene conducted the traffic stop, which led to a consensual search of the vehicle which was occupied by three individuals all from Georgia.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle officers discovered a small baggie containing a white powdery substance (cocaine) in the wallet belonging to Wesley C. Cooper, 22, of Braseton, Georgia. During a further search, officers located a backpack, which Cooper claimed as his, that contained Marijuana, several small baggies of cocaine, and a pill bottle containing Xanax. Cooper was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on the following charges:
Poss. Of Cocaine w/ intent to distribute
Poss. Of a Controlled Substance w/o a prescription (Xanax)
Poss. Of Marijuana less than 20 grams.
