Long known for a hardline stance on the Second Amendment and involvement in local and State politics, Zenna and David Corbin have operated Chipley Gun & Pawn for over 30 years in downtown Chipley, Florida.
‘We are big believers in individual rights and responsibilities’, says Zenna in her store on a bright, sunny day in Northwest Florida, ‘and we hold dear our Constitutional privileges’.
‘Our patriotism is no secret, and we do not miss an opportunity to profess that patriotic spirit through the display of our Nation’s flag’.
Zenna and David and Chipley Gun & Pawn were honored this week by the William Dunaway Chapter of the Florida Society of the Sons Of The American Revolution, who present a Flag Certificate to the business for their display of the flag.
‘We are pleased to present this award to Chipley Gun and Pawn for their continued support of United States Constitution and American values by their daily display of the American flag’, said Dale Macumber, spokesperson for the organization, in a ceremony on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
‘The flag certificate was authorized in 1987 and is presented to individuals, companies and government agencies that fly the flag of the United States for patriotic purposes’, continued Macumber, ‘and the business must conform to the practice of displaying the flag each morning but taking the flag indoors at night’.
On June 14, 1777, the first American flag was officially adopted by the United States Continental Congress.
‘There have been many stars added since that first flag, as new states were added to our great country’, says Macumber, ‘and we, as Sons Of The American Revolution, appreciate those who honor and display our flag’.
Chipley Gun & Pawn is located on Highway 90, just east of Main Street, or Highway 77, in downtown Chipley, Florida, and you may view their flag on display every business day.
