The Northwest Florida community time and again opens their hearts and their wallets to help their neighbors, and yesterday saw an outpouring of compassion for a local family in Chipley.
Javier’s Mexican Grill in Chipley, Florida recently announced that they would donate one hundred percent of all proceeds on Wednesday, March 21 to the family of local resident Rachel Walls, who left behind a family with a young child following a vehicle accident.
‘We announced that we would donate all proceeds on Wednesday to the family of Rachel Walls’, said Emily Valdovinos, ‘but we were unaware of what was to follow’.
‘We were so busy yesterday’, said Emily on Thursday morning, ‘We had about an hour wait for service and the staff didn’t get to take a break all day’.
‘I’m so overwhelmed by the support of the community! It was wonderful to see. I want to thank our employees for the team work and getting through the day’, Valdovinos continues.
‘Also, we had several customers that cleaned tables and refilled drinks because we were so slammed! What a way to pull together! I don’t know the exact number but I know we raised well over $5,000 on Wednesday, all of which will go to the Walls family’.
Javier’s is just a mile north of I-10 at Exit 120, and remains one of the most popular restaurants in the area, due in equal parts to authentic Mexican food served ‘in style and with a smile’, as well as the giving spirit of the owners Javier and Emily Valdovinos.
‘We always try to give back to the community, contributing to schools and non-profits when possible, but this involves one of our own, and we are going to give a little more than usual’, echoed Javier Valdovinos, co-owner of the restaurant.
‘We are continuing to take donations here at the restaurant, Javier’s Mexican Grill, at 1414 Main Street in Downtown Chipley’, says Valdovinos, ‘all in support of the family of Rachel Walls’.
This is but one example of the giving spirit of folks in Northwest Florida, and we say ‘Well done’!
