Annual ‘Field Day’ at Vernon, Florida Elementary School Finishes Strong on Monday, April 2, 2018 With Great Weather and Lots of Smiles

Rescheduled from Friday, March 30, 2018 due to inclement weather, Vernon Elementary School in Vernon, Florida finished their multi-day ‘Field Day’ activities with the older children participating on Monday, April 2, 2018.

The staff of ‘Real Florida Magazine’ was invited to again document the activities as in the past, and the event was held under sunny Northwest Florida skies.

Washington County Commission Chairman Tray Hawkins’ firm John Hawkins Telecommunications, along with Anderson Columbia and the City of Vernon spent part of Spring Break rebuilding the play fields at the Vernon Elementary School and replacing culverts in preparation for this event, and the work paid off.

‘We always try to help when possible and the drainage problems and normal wear and tear caused by our weather caused some erosion in the play fields and track’, said Hawkins, ‘with a little bit of help from our friends we were able to get these fields in a safe playing condition’.

The day was full of activity as parents and friends joined students and staff in activities designed to promote good health, sportsmanship and competition, as seen in these photos by Paje Menfi and Debbie Goulding for Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida.

‘We appreciate Real Florida Magazine attending this week’s events’, said one teacher. ‘we can always count on Debbie and her staff to make us look good’.
