Members of the Chipley Garden Club gathered at the home of Ray and Linda Pigott Wednesday morning for their April monthly meetings made “seed bombs”, received an update of the Wildflower Trails being developed in Washington County, and enjoyed lunch while discussing upcoming garden club-related events taking place around the state.
Heather Lopez was on hand to bring club members up-to-date on the Wildflower Trails and handed out maps showing the routes residents and visitors can take to view the beautiful wildflowers blooming along county roadsides.
Shown at the right, the maps outlines areas along Hwys 279 and 79; as well as Hwys 77, 278 and 273.
Club President Debbi Mitchell announced that Ray and Clara Estes, 612 Rustin Drive in Chipley, had received the April Yard of the Month recognition from the club.
Reporting on upcoming events Mitchell included the following:
- April 11th – Trip to an Amaryllis Farm
- April 21st – English Tea being hosted by the Chipley Garden Club at the First Methodist Church in Chipley. There are only a limited number of tickets still available.
- April 22nd – 24th Florida Federation of Garden Clubs Annual Convention.
- May 2nd – Chipley Garden Club monthly meeting at Shiver’s Park in Chipley.
- May 15th – District II Spring Meeting being held at the First Baptist Church in Bonifay beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Chipley Garden Club President Debbie Mitchell welcomed members and guests to the April meeting.
Club members enjoyed comparing notes on wildflowers.

“Seed bombs” are made from potting soil, clay, and seeds that will end up in someone’s garden.
