Chipley Kiwanis Club learns about two Christian-based programs ………..

By | April 19, 2018

Coy Pennington, representing Trail Life USA in this area,  was a guest speaker at this week’s Kiwanis Club luncheon meeting and gave those in attendance an overview of the Christ-centered outdoor character development adventure program open to boys starting at age 5.

Pennington said it is important to recognize the following:

  •  Boys love the fun and adventure.
  •  Parents love the commitment to a Christian worldview and moral consistency.
  •  Christian Charter Organizations appreciate that all Troops are Charter-owned and operated, and function as a ministry of their organization.

He stressed that in the first two years of existence, Trail Life USA has partnered with churches to provide a Christ-centered outdoor adventure, character, and leadership opportunity to boys and young men in 49 states.

Pennington noted that through the program boys are connecting with friends, dads, and godly mentors in a safe, unapologetically Christian environment.

The mission of the program is “to guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure.

Cheryl Harris, representing American Heritage Girls, another faith-based organization, was the second speaker at the meeting and outlines the following about the program.

Harris said American Heritage Girls offers girls ages 5-18 an exciting progressive program of:

  •  Social Development through organized special events.
  •  Girl Leadership opportunities at all levels of programming.
  •  Life Skill Enhancement through multi-level Badge program.
  •  Character Development through community service and citizenship programs.
  •  Developing Teamwork and Building confidence through varied outdoor experiences.
  •  Spiritual Development through Biblically-based programming and religious recognition programs.

Harris said American Heritage Girls allows girls to experience new challenges, serve others, make new friends and have tons of fun, all in a safe, faith-filled environment.  She said whether your daughter wants to learn more about aviation, learn to paddle a canoe, or ice the perfect cake, AHG’s program is ready to inspire her to new heights.
