The Chipley, Florida High School Class of 2018 Project Graduation held their inaugural ‘3 on 3’ Basketball Tournament as a fundraiser for the organization on Saturday, April 28 at the old Chipley High School Gymnasium on 2nd Street in downtown Chipley, as seen in Part 1 of these photos from the event by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida.

14 teams participated and there will be a shortage of Ben-Gay, SportsCreme and Blue-Emu in local stores this week as team members varied in age up into the 40’s.

‘Project Graduation’ is an opportunity for graduating High School Seniors to spend the evening of their graduation, typically a time when these students might plan parties and at times experience life-changing and sometimes lethal outcomes due to alcohol, drugs or poor judgement, in a safe environment.

The trend has resulted in diminished numbers of tragedies for these young adults, and school systems nationwide have endorsed and supported the efforts, typically requiring the sponsorship of the respective area business and professional community.

The CHS Basketball fundraiser started at 8AM to the accompaniment of the fire alarm for the first hour or so, and consisted of a Double Elimination Tournament, with a $50 registration fee, and general admission was only one dollar.
