Panama City, FL – Gulf Coast State College is holding its 59th Graduation Ceremony and is proud of the 1,341 students who will achieve their dreams of higher education. The time-honored tradition is one of the most important events in the life of the College. Family and friends will gather at the Marina Civic Center on Friday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. to witness 390 students cross the stage and receive their hard-earned degrees.
Dr. John Holdnak, GCSC President, will preside over the commencement exercises. Wayne Lindsey, entrepreneur and local franchise owner of our local Sonny’s BBQ restaurants, will deliver the keynote address. He has partnered with WMBB and Bay District Schools to create the “Big Deal” program, which recognizes K-12 students who display good character, leadership, and heroics.
This year, Tonitta Sauls, a full-time GCSC Computer Science professor, will graduate from the Culinary Arts program. She received the Outstanding Escoffier Award and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the program. Being a student provided her with the unique opportunity to experience a student’s perspective and participate in their daily routines. She will be walking alongside her fellow classmates in the ceremony.
