Today the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has released the name of the one-year-old male who died in an incident on May 9th in Jackson County.
According to the FHP press release, a blue Ford F250 driven by Mark Hodges of Grand Ridge, Florida was traveling in an easterly direction through the yard of 2236 Ray Avenue while one-year-old Derek L. Lewis was playing in the yard.
The FHP reports that Hodge’s failed to observe the child. As a result, the vehicle collided with the child.
Hodges has been charged with Driving on a Suspended License/Involving Death. The FHP reports the investigation is ongoing.
