Arrest made in Jackson County child abuse case ……….

On January 22, 2018, The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of child abuse that was occurring on Delta Lane. The case was investigated and on February 16, 2018, the case file was sent to the State Attorney’s Office in the 14th Circuit. Due to one of the involved parties being a family member of a local law enforcement officer the case was transferred to a State Attorney’s Office in the 2nd Circuit for review.

On April 27, 2018, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the State Attorney’s Office in Jefferson County that there was probable cause to submit an affidavit for the defendant, Kirk Watford, charging him with two counts of aggravated child abuse.

On April 30, 2018, The State Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Watford’s arrest. On May 11, 2018, Kirk Watford, turned himself in without incident.
