Goldencrest

 

Large groups of this plant (Lophiola aurea) grow in sunny wet areas such as roadside ditches and bloom from April through June.

 

The stems, which can reach three feet in height, are covered with fine whitish hairs.

 

From a distance, the plants look gray, but when you get close, you can see it has many small wooley orange flowers.
