The month of May ushers in a time for Graduation from regional high schools, along with potentially wet tropical storm fronts, and Washington County, Florida is holding its collective breath as Chipley High School plans the annual Senior Graduation ceremonies scheduled for outside on the football field and Philip Rountree Stadium in downtown Chipley on Thursday, May 24 in the face of rainy weather.
‘We are preparing the Chipley High School gymnasium as we speak’, said CHS Principal Kyle Newsome in Chipley High School, ‘We feel it better to be prepared than to get caught short, and with the help of our community partners, we are doing just that’.
‘Our motto is hope for the best and prepare for the worst’, said Debbie Goulding, President of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, whose firm is providing a sound system for the CHS gymnasium, in preparation for a “worst case” scenario.
‘Our staff has been in the gymnasium and auditorium of the high school today’, continues Goulding, ‘setting up a sound system in the gym and running an audio signal to the auditorium, where, if the worst case does happen, attendees will be able to watch the graduation ceremonies, scheduled for 8PM this evening, in the comfort of the theater-style seating on the big screen’.
For 12 years, Real Florida Media and parent company The Goulding Agency have been documenting regional sports, events and graduations, and the firm has been embedded in the CHS preparations this year, better able to offer a behind-the-scenes’ look at the preparation for, and execution of, these momentous occasions, a shown in a photographic retrospective.
