Obituary for Carolyn H. Brown …………….

By | May 29, 2018

Carolyn H. Brown or “Mimi”, as lovingly called by her family, age 82, a resident of Tallahassee, FL passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, leaving a legacy of her years of dedication to her family, her extended family of loyal co-workers, and the Big Bend community.

Carolyn was a mother, a sister, a Mimi, an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church, an entrepreneur, a public servant, a philanthropist, and an advocate and champion for equality and diversity. Many of the things she stood for and accomplished were challenging for the times, but even more so as a woman, which was only achievable for someone holding a deep passion for change, inclusion, and the selfless love of others. She co-founded Tallahassee’s well-known Suburban Salon in 1958 and served as a long-standing member of The Tallahassee 100 Club, Committee of 99, and The Economic Club of Florida. For all that knew her, there was no question that family came first, and Sunday Dinner was not to be missed. She will be greatly missed and cherished for her kind spirit, her mischievous tales of growing up on a small farm during the depression in Washington County, her laughs, smiles, and selfless love. Carolyn was the epitome of a true southern lady with charm and grace.

She leaves behind her devoted and loving children and their spouses, Terri Hartsfield (Frank Mabry), Tracy Wright (Hobbie), and Mark Brown (Chrissy) of Tallahassee, FL; five grandchildren and their significant others, Sloane Wright (Cade Hall), Justin Wright (Kerianne Stuck), Lindsay Wright Adcox (Brady), Cole Brown, and Abby Brown; two sisters, Ruth White and Angia Morris (Jack); her long-time companion and “Gentleman Friend”, Waldo Kinsey; and her huge family of co-workers and friends.

A visitation will be held at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Faith Presbyterian Church. Lunch in the fellowship hall is to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea House or Faith Presbyterian Church, or in keeping with Carolyn’s legacy, by helping someone in need. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.bevisfh.com 850-385-2193)
