Members of the congregation of the Spirit-Filled Church of God in Christ were on hand to support their request to have a cemetery developed at the intersection of St. Mary’s Road and Phillips Street in Caryville.

If developed as planned, the cemetery will include 84 burial sites, which church members indicated were needed in the community.

This action now will go before the Washington County Board of County Commissioners for their approval.

The Planning Commissioners also approved a special exception that will allow construction of a 300-foot wireless communication tower at 4173 Douglas Ferry Road.  This action will also go before the BOCC for approval.

In a separate action, the Planning Commission approved a Land Development Code amendment to allow Mobile Food Vehicles to be set up at various locations around the county for up to 60 days, with the permission of the landowner.  This would allow food vendors to participate in various festivals/activities taking place in the county.  The next step for this amendment will be approval from each municipality in the county.

Final action at the June 5th Planning Commission meeting was approval of a Development Review Application from M&S Properties.  The business is requesting permission to add 1,800 square feet to an existing warehouse.

Commissioners were told that the county staffers recommended approval.  This application will now be sent to the Wausau Town Council for their approval.

The next meeting of the Washington County Planning Commission is set for 5 p.m. on July 10th at the County Annex on South Boulevard in Chipley.
