On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle off Birchwood Road in the Shady Grove Community. The driver of the vehicle, identified as John Christopher Stone, was advised of the reason for the traffic stop and provided Investigators with his driver’s license and vehicle information. While speaking with Stone, Investigators noted that he was extremely nervous and began making furtive movements inside the cab of the vehicle. Stone was subsequently asked to step out the vehicle and a firearm was observed in plain view inside the vehicle next to the drivers’ seat.
Investigators subsequently obtained consent to search the vehicle from Stone. During the course of the search, Investigators located a series of items consistent with the use and manufacture of methamphetamine. These items included pseudoephedrine pills, lye, coffee filters, drain cleaner, tubing, disassembled lithium batteries, ammonium nitrate, camp fuel, a butane torch, a pill grinder, used methamphetamine boats, smoking pipes and approximately 1 gram of finished methamphetamine.
At the conclusion of the search, Stone was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
