Florida Senator George Gainer was the high bidder on the 99-pound watermelon that won the Number 1 ranking at this year’s Watermelon Festival in Chipley.
Shown at the right, Gainer took home the melon with his bid and helped start the bidding on the remainder of melons auctioned to help raise funds for next year’s event.
