“The Washington County School Board is proposing and supporting a half-cent sales tax for Washington Co. schools. I personally am in favor of this. A sales tax is the fairest of taxes in that everyone who buys goods and services pays the same tax.”
“A half-cent sales tax will generate approximately $920,000 a year for our schools which can only be used for technology and upgrading/improving our
existing facilities.”
“Some examples of technology enhancement needs include the purchase of electronic student learning devices, laptops, smart boards, digital textbooks, hardware, software, retrofitting for broadband and wireless capability at school locations.”
“A few facility current concerns are: FPTC building upgrades, covered walkways at various schools, expanded lunchrooms, expansion of student work areas
and replacing/updating HVPC units.”
“You can be assured that your school board will a good steward of this tax money spending it wisely.”
“Our youth are the future of our country and we must prepare them for success. I encourage all voters to support this referendum.”
