Friday the 13th was a lucky day for returning school children in Washington and Holmes County, Florida as students from the Florida Panhandle Technical College Cosmetology Program gave free haircuts to school children on the campus of Northwest Florida Community Hospital on Friday, July 13, 2018.

The event was the 11th Annual ‘Back To School Fair’, documented for many years by Real Florida Magazine and as seen in these photos by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida,

Long-time Kiwanis member Washington County Commissioner Todd Abbott volunteered for several hours, helping vendors, including area non-profit organizations, transport their displays and school supplies as hundreds of local families received paper, pencils, crayons, notebooks and other needed items.

Although somewhat smaller than normal, the event was a success for all involved.  ‘This is an opportunity to give back to the community, and as you look around, that is what all these folks are doing’, said Todd Abbott at the event.  ‘I am proud to be from, and live in, Washington County Florida’.
