Kiwanis club members heard from Chipley Police Chief Scott Thompson at this week’s club meeting.

Summing up his report on recent 4th of July activities around town, Thompson said the holiday is always a challenge, but added that fortunately there were no serious problems this year.

Thompson did note that city residents are seeing heavier traffic flow on Hwy 90, which he said was primarily due to work on Hwy 79 which is funneling more vehicles east and west on Hwy 90.

Thompson also said Code Enforcement falls under the duties of the Police Department and noted that enforcement of the City’s sign ordinance is currently a top concern.  He added that the sign ordinance is currently being reviewed by the Chipley City Council.
