During his time with President Trump, the Governor discussed many topics that are important to Floridians. This includes thanking President Trump for the White House’s approval of the EAA Reservoir to store more water South of Lake Okeechobee. The Governor asked the President to now pressure Congress to approve this project that will reduce the need for Army Corps of Engineers’ water discharges from the Lake that have been causing harmful algal blooms in Florida communities. The Governor also thanked the President for signing a National Flood Insurance Program extension and urged him to keep fighting to fix this program so Floridians are treated fairly.
The Governor also spoke with the President about two important foreign policy subjects – Nicaragua and Cuba. The Governor and the President discussed what the United States is doing to support the people of Nicaragua. On Cuba, the Governor asked the President to direct the Department of State to fully implement his Cuba policy to make sure that all Cuban military entities are denied any possible revenue from the United States.
