The 49th Annual Wausau Possum Festival and Funday featured a Pageant, a Parade, a Possum Auction, a Pancake Breakfast, the World-Famous ‘Wausau Possum King & Queen Contest’ as well as food, entertainment, vendors and one of the most unique experiences in the world.

Although one of the longest ‘King & Queen’ contests on record, the crowd enjoyed cooler weather on the evening of August 3 than normal, along with a demonstration of why Woman’s Day Magazine declared the Wausau Possum Festival as ‘One of The Eight Most Unique Festivals In the World’.

Here are a few images from the Friday, August 3, 2018 ‘Possum King & Queen Contest’, in which Washington County, Florida Commissioners Todd Abbott and Tray Hawkins served as a Judges, as seen by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Gouldng Agency in Chipley, Florida.

During the event, and in answer to a plea from the emcee, Commissioner Todd Abbott challenged the rest of the panel of judges, along with all other elected officials at the event, to match his donation of $100 to help out one of the Wausau residents in need, to which Tray Hawkins responded in kind, along with several others in the crowd.
