CRA continues work to upgrade downtown Chipley.

Meeting in a Board Workshop Aug. 9th, members of the CRA announced they would be studying the policies and procedures they have in place for non-profit organizations wanting to work with the agency for funding purposes over the upcoming weeks.
CRA members also reviewed a wish list presented them by the Community in Action group. That list included the following issues:
- Improving school bus stops that could include covered bus shelters with bench seating. While agreeing this could be beneficial to students during inclement weather, CRA members referred the issue to the District School System.
- A number of issues were referred to the City of Chipley – including: street lighting; sidewalks; inadequate parking; predestrian crosswalks in front of Gilmore Park, Cooper Funeral Home, TJ Roulhac Enrichment Center and Piggly Wiggly; and speed limit enforcement signs.
- The CRA Board did show interest in working with the community to add disability-friendly playground equipment at Gilmore Park and adding “slow down” signs and children-at-play signs within the CRA district.
CRA members also gave the go-ahed to the following agenda items:
- Approved a Building Exterior Improvement Grant Part II for Ashlynn Marquez at 837 Main Street.
- Approved a $12,000 grant for Tammy Ayers and Gina Pippin for Sister’s Southern Charm Bakery to be located at 827 Main Street.
- Approved a $8,478 loan for Jared Kirkland for bat exclusion at the building at 1359 South Railraod Avenue.
- Approved a $20,000 loan for Mike Crutchfield to bring property at 1342 Railroad Avenue up to code.
