Members of the Washington County School Board joined with Washington County School Superintendent Joe Taylor Monday night thanking United Way repersentative Robyn Heath for the 100 back packs doanted to the local school district by the agency.
Taylor thanked United Way for the gift that he says will benefit a large number of Washington County students.
Another presentation at Monday night’s meeting was Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanshnip Award presented to Superintendent Joe Taylor for Roulhac Middle School.
And, and a third presentation was made to School Board member Dr. Lou Cleveland by Tina Pinkoson, Director Leadership Services for the Florida School Board Association. Cleveland achieved the status of being a Certified board Member.
Before closing Monday night’s meeting discussed the possibility of allowing the Spanish Trail Playhouse to redesign the front entrance and handicapped accessible ramp in front of the playhouse in Chipley.
Superintendent Taylor pointed out that the existing entrance does not meet handicapped accessibility standards.
School Board member Milton Brown also took time to thank all of those involved in the recent Active Shooter Workshop for their work, and asked for a closed workshop session to look at other ways to secure the campuses of the public schools in Washington County.
Additionally, the Washington County School Board approved the following agenda items during Monday night’s meeting:

- Xerox lease agreements for three copiers at Kate M. Smith Elementary School.
- Third Party Testing agreement between Florida Panhandle Technical College and FLorida DMV.
- Contract with Chemical Addictions Reovery Effort, Inc.
- Amended Resolution 2018-1, which changes the date of sunset of the proposed one-half cent sales tax.
- PAEC recommendations.
- Human Resources for the District, including – leave of absence for Pat Jackson effective Aug. 8, 2018; level change for Elizateth L.
