Even cloudy skies didn’t deter the Sept. 5th ribbon cutting hosted by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
Brandon and Jennifer Tompkins welcomed all the well wishers who turned out for Tuesday’s event and expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome they have received since moving to Chipley and making the decision to open their new restaurant located on Hwy 90 East (1176 Jackson Avenue).
The Tompkins moved to Florida from Tennessee in May in part to find a warmer climate, but they still wanted to be close to other family members who had moved to Florida. The couple says after traveling through Chipley a number of times on their way to Panama City they decided Chipley is where they wanted to settle and provide a home for the children.
The new eatery is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Why open a restaurant? Well, Brandon says it has been his dream since childhood to own his own restraurant and Jennifer came out in full support.
Jennifer and Brandon invite area residents to stop by BJ’s Grill, sample their menu, and get to know them, because they want to be a part of the community.
