A 7:30 a.m. crash on I-10 in Jackson County today resulted in a Texas man being transported to an Alabama medical facility for treatment of serious injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Jagger Excalante, 24, of Kirby, Texas, was traveling eastbound in the inside travel lane of Interstate 10 when the accident occurred.  The FHP report says Escalante was traveling in a Hyundai Veloster.

A witness to the accident said while traveling at a high speed the vehicle exited the roadway onto the grassy median and then with driver input it re-entered the roadway in a southeasterly direction.

According to the FHP report, the vehicle then traveled across both eastbound travel lanes, with the left side leading.  The left side of the vehicle struck the ditch, then traveled up the south side, continuing in a southeasterly direction.  The left side of vehicle then struck the Interstate 10 barrier fence and became entangled in the fencing before coming to final rest.
