On a sunny September afternoon in Chipley, Florida, Monday, September 10, 2018, the Washington County School District celebrated the Grand Opening of the WAVE School (Washington Academy of Varying Exceptionalities), as seen in these photos by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida.

Washington County Commissioner Todd Abbott, who represents District 4 in Washington County, remarked ‘This is great day for our county, as we no longer have to transport children with special needs to neighboring counties to enjoy the type facilities they require to live a robust life’.

Washington County School Board members, business persons, teachers and parents all joined in the celebratory festivities, which included a catered refreshment area courtesy of the Chipley High School Culinary Program.

Over 40 students are enrolled, using the six classrooms, dedicated to Pre-Kindegarten to 12th grade, all contained in the area previously housing the old fifth-grade wing at Roulhac Middle School.

A speech therapist and behavior analyst will be utilized in the facility, allowing remedial attention to those respective issues, and the school will enjoy the latest technology and services available, school officials say.
