Seventeen years ago today, the face of our nation changed in response to an unthinkable event. In the aftermath, Americans united to grieve, comfort, and rebuild. Our country pulled together and showed the world what it meant to be an American.
Today, we also pay respect to the men and women who put themselves on the front lines in the fight against terrorism. We mourn the fallen servicemen and serivcewomen who were unable to return home, who sacrificed everything they could.
I hope you’ll join me today in remembering those we lost in this long struggle. I hope you’ll commit to representing the united America that we saw shortly after the attacks. One that doesn’t judge based on nationality, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. Because when we come together with open hearts and open minds, we can overcome even our greatest challenges together.
Sincerely, Bob RackleffÂ
