Obituary for Harold Pelton, Jr. ……………..

Mr. Harold Pelton, Jr. was born November 15, 1928 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania where he also spent his childhood growing up. Mr. Pelton graduated high school in Eric, Pennsylvania in 1947. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation and dedicated his life to protect the freedom of our country. He later met a kind and beautiful young lady, Ms. Betty Nickles. They married December 13, 1958. They spent an incredible 60 years together. Harold and Betty Pelton raised their family in Clinton, Maryland from 1963 to 1985. In 1985, they left Maryland to reside in Florida.

 

Mr. Pelton spent a year in Vietnam. He also served in the Presidential Outfit at St. Andrews Air Force Base during JFK’s presidency. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 with 24 years of service for the love of his family, freedom and country. After he retired, Mr. Pelton continued to be of service to others as a volunteer fire fighter in Compass Lake from 1987-2003. He spent every weekend selling items at Sadie’s Flea Market in Dothan, Alabama, his home away from home.

 

Mr. Harold R. Pelton, Jr. was preceded in death by his father Harold R. Pelton, Sr., his mother Elizabeth Pelton, his brother Dean Pelton, and step-daughter Debbie Walling.

 

Mr. Pelton is survived by his wife Betty Pelton; four children, Stephen Pelton, Jeannie Pelton, Gregory Nickles, and Harold Pelton, III, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

There will be a private family service.
