With some cell service and electrical power restored, water and food supplied by National Guard and other agencies, and a veritable army of chain saw warriors in evidence, Hurricane Michael continues to impact the lives of those in the Central Florida Panhandle.
Since making landfall on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the region still has areas undergoing search and rescue, and many communities, including those along the Central Florida Panhandle Gulf Coast region, including Panama City, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach and Tyndall Air Force Base, remain a war zone.
The impact of the storm on Washington County, Florida and subsequent health and safety issues are discussed here in part 2 of a discussion with Washington County Commission Chairman Tray Hawkins.
Those in need may call local hotlines at 850-849-5766 and 850-849-5768. Additional updates will be forthcoming from the National Weather Service, Washington County, Florida officials and the City of Chipley, as the damage from the storm is assessed and those in need are identified and addressed.
