Southport woman dies in Washington County crash ………………

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that 69-year-old Elizabeth McCormick of Southport, Florida died as the result of injuries sustained in a Oct. 15th crash on State Road 77 in Washington County.

 

According to the FHP, McCormick was driving a 2018 Kia southbound on the left, inside southbound travel lane of SR 77 and a 2005 Semi driven by Crutis Johnson of Humble, Texas was traveling southbound on the left, inside travel lane of the same highway ahead of the Kia.  

 

The FHP reports that the driver of the Kia failed tor educe their speed or change lanes.  As a result, the front portion of the Kia collided with the rear portion of the semi’s trailer, becoming entangled with one another.  After the collision, both vehicles came to final rest on the right, outside, southbound trvel lane of State Road 77, facing in a southerly direction, entangled.

 

The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Washington County EMS.
