Originally formed as the Washington County Historical Preservation Society in 1985, today’s Historical Society has launched a membership drive to help promote the preservation of the heritage of Washington County.
Current members want to encourage county residents, as well as former county residents, to join the Historical Society and help preserve the history of Washington County, Florida.
The Historical Society collects photos, literature and historical items for display at the museum at the old Amtrak Station/Farmer’s Market in Chipley and encourages area residents to donate memorabilia to help tell the story of the county.
Them museum is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and every first Saturday from 9 a.m. until Noon.
Tours are available to groups by appointment and they offer a downtown walking tour pamphlet and a guided tour for groups of eight or more.
The membership year begins in October annually and the annual dues are:
- $15.00 for Individuals
- $25.00 for a Family
- $40.00 for Businesses
- $100.00 for Patrons
