Washington County, Florida Commissioner District 4 Todd Abbott Addresses The Voters of Washington County

By | November 5, 2018

‘For eight years the citizens of Washington County, Florida have entrusted me, as one of five Commissioners in Washington County, to be a steward of your money, your confidence and ultimately your trust, to represent your interests and to work to forge a pathway for the future of our County that will be better than the past, and a legacy for our children and grandchildren’, said Todd Abbott on Monday, November 5, 2018 in downtown Chipley, Florida.

Abbott took advantage of the opportunity, on the eve of the mid-term elections, to express his appreciation for the teamwork exhibited by his fellow Commissioners, the progress the board of Commissioners has made, especially when it comes to eliminating County debt, and the long-term plans in place to enable Washington County to enter the next decade with high hopes.

‘I am humbled by my time in office’, said Abbott, ‘and with God’s grace, our Board of County Commissioners will continue to do the right thing every day, every week, every year, as we help to provide a quality of life in Washington County hard to find elsewhere’.

Abbott, originally elected in 2010, has played a part in the restructuring of the financial framework of the County, putting into action a plan to allow the County to be debt-free by the end of the fiscal year.

In a recent interview, Abbott said, ‘My goal has always been to reduce taxes and to get our county out of debt, and we’ve come a long way with that effort’.

‘I’m an advocate of reducing taxes, and that has been our focus.  We have either reduced taxes or left them the same every year that I have served, and I am proud of that accomplishment.  With my re-election, we will continue to do that’.

Abbott listed some of the accomplishments of the Washington County Board of County Commissioners, including drafting a plan and securing funding for infrastructure and setting aside funding for a new agricultural center.

Abbott took the opportunity to thank the citizens of Washington County on working together to cope with the tragedies associated with Hurricane Michael, saying that there was no way that the County could have done it without public cooperation.

‘It has been tough for everybody’, said Todd.  ‘But the County had a plan in place, which worked, and if you look around, there are no counties that have recovered more quickly than we have.  All of our County personnel should be praised for their diligence, hard work and efforts to make us whole once again’.

‘This is a place that I choose to live- this is my father’s home, my grandfather’s home, my children’s home – and I just want to see our community thrive’.

Abbott went on to ask the citizens of Washington County to vote for him and support him as District 4 Washington County Commissioner when they go to the polls on Tuesday, November 6.
