With the possibility of a recount, both Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott won close victories for the Republican Party, for Governor and US Senate respectively, according to unofficial results after a day of voting in the 2018 Mid-Term Elections.
US Representative Neal Dunn, State Senator George Gainer and Attorney General candidate Ashley Moody, all Republicans, also won their respective seats in unofficial results.
Washington County, Florida voted predominantly Republican, with the exception of the Rick Scott-Bill Nelson race.
Washington County Commissioner District 4 Todd Abbott, an eight-year incumbent, again secured the seat for another four years in his office, and said ‘For eight years the citizens of Washington County, Florida entrusted me, as one of five Commissioners in Washington County, to be a steward of their money, confidence and trust, to represent their interests and to work to forge a pathway for the future of our County that will be better than the past, and a legacy for our children and grandchildren’.
Abbott continued, ‘I am humbled by my time in office, and with God’s grace, our Board of County Commissioners will continue to do the right thing every day, every week, every year, as we help to provide a quality of life in Washington County hard to find elsewhere’.
I am a proud resident and business owner in Washington County, and as a parent and grandparent, I am proud of our people and our quality of life’.
‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me represent you and your family, God bless you and God Bless America’, Abbott finished.
