Washington County, Florida Board of County Commissioners Chairman Tray Hawkins, accompanied by Washington County personnel and Emergency Operations Center staff took the opportunity this week to thank Santa Rosa County for their assistance during Hurricane Michael.
Santa Rosa County Emergency Operations Staff manned the Washington County EOC, along with local utility, governmental a public safety personnel for over two weeks following Hurricane Michael, filling in as needed and providing aid to the harried Washington County staff.
‘Without a doubt one of the best groups of people I have ever had the opportunity to work with’, said Tray Hawkins, as he presented to the Santa Rosa group the American flag that flew over the Wausau, Florida Emergency Operations Center for the duration of the state of emergency declared by the state and the county.
‘This is the team that Santa Rosa County sent over to help Washington County the day after Hurricane Michael made landfall’, Hawkins continued, ‘and yesterday we had the honor of saying thank you’.
‘We presented them with the flag that flew over our EOC during the storm. I hope Santa Rosa is never in need of our help but if the need ever arises we are in route. Thank you’.
