‘The people of Washington County, along with the rest of the region, have been challenged by many adversities caused by Hurricane Michael’, said Todd Abbott on Wednesday morning, November 7, 2018, ‘and that has been our biggest focus over the past several weeks’.
Abbott was referring to his, and the focus of the Board of County Commissioners in Washington County, Florida, on the efforts to restore utilities, infrastructure and more importantly, confidence, following the devastation of the October 10 storm, one of the worst in the history of the area.
‘In the midst of this disaster we also found ourselves in the middle of a political campaign, which took a back seat to getting Washington County back on track’, Abbott continues.
Todd Abbott’s performance in office spoke volumes, however, and he made history in Washington County, Florida with his unprecedented third term win as County Commissioner, something which has not been done in recent memory in this rural northwest Florida county.
‘I believe that it is the prevailing spirit of teamwork, something we have not enjoyed to a large extent on the Washington County Commission, that has enabled us to reduce debt and forge long-term plans for economic growth in Washington County’, says Abbott, ‘and the voters want this kind of progress’.
‘We look forward to the next few years, as we continue to improve the quality of life, economic viability and overall bright future of Washington County. We need to continue to roll up our sleeves and do what has to be done, every day, and good things will continue to be the reward’.
