TALLAHASSEE— The Florida Sports Foundation, a division of Enterprise Florida that guides the state of Florida’s sports tourism and development opportunities, has honored the Chipola College baseball program with a commemorative National Championship plaque.
The State of Florida continues to produce some of the nation’s best collegiate athletic teams, programs, and student-athletes in the country. Since Jan. 1, 2018, the State of Florida as a whole has displayed multiple championship performances as 12 teams captured national titles that are officially recognized by the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA as the nation’s best in their respective divisions. As the Sunshine State continues to dominate the collegiate athletics landscape, the talent on the field and in the classroom continues to lead the nation.
The Chipola Indians won their second-straight NJCAA Baseball National Championship in June with a 10-7 victory over Walters State. Under the direction of head coach Jeff Johnson, the Indians finished the year with a 49-17 record, winning the Panhandle Conference, Region VIII/FCSAA, and NJCAA titles.
