Chipley Kiwanis Club honors Veterans and learns about Council on Aging …………………

Tuesday’s meeting of the Chipley Kiwanis Club was decked out to honor Veterans who served in the U.S. Military and included a display of photos of former members of the military.

 

Members of the club expressed their appreciation for those who served in the U.S. Military,

both during peace time and when this nation was at war.

 

Upcoming Kiwanis Club activities include the following:

 

  •  Nov. 20th – Satellite Club meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Skins & Bubba’s Restaurant on Hwy 77 South in Chipley.
  •  Dec. 4th – Headstart Christmas at  regular club meeting at Patillo’s Restaurant on the campus of Florida Panhandle Technical College.
  •  Dec. 6th – ‘Pancakes with Santa’ being hosted at Kate M. Smith Elementary School in Chipley.

 

Anita Clarke,  Executive Director of the Washington County Council on Aging, was guest speaker at Tuesday’s meeting and brought the Kiwanians up-to-date on the various activities and programs the COA hosts to allow Washington County’s senior citizens to remain in their homes. 

 

She also announced two fundraisers the COA is hosting in the upcoming weeks:

 

  •  Nov. 20th  –  Cake Auction – Bidding will begin at 9 a.m. with final bids taken at 3 p.m.  Bids can be made via Facebook or by coming into the Council office at 1348 South Boulevard in Chipley.  All bids start at $15.  Cakes doanted for auction need to be delivered no later than 8 a.m. the day of the auction.  Winner may pick up their cake between 3 and 5:30 p.m. at the COA office.  Please call 638-6216 for more information.

 

  •   The COA is also offering Cookbooks for sale at $10.00 each. Take home a treasured collection of recipes from many outstanding cooks.  This attractive cookbook makes an ideal gift of keepsake.  To purchase a bookbook, or for more information call the Washington Cunty Council on Aging, Inc. at 638-6216.  Procceds will benefit Senior Citizen In-Home Services.
