In their meeting Monday afternoon the Chipley Redevelopment Agency (CRA) board approved a $30,000 Building Exterior Improvement Grant for property at 1359 South Railroad Avenue (old dry cleaners) in Chipley.   The building is owned by Jared and Rechelle Kirkland and will be developed as a hair salon.  Board members were very complimentary of the grant application completed by the Kirklands.

As approved,  the scope of work includes removing the awnings above all exterior windows, repairing brick from awning removal, pressure washing the building, scraping any excess paint chipping, painting the exterior brick white and trim black.

The CRA board members also approved a tree removal grant for Darrin Wall, 1319 Watts Avenue, in Chipley.  The grant funds are to cover removal of four damaged trees from Hurricane Michael that fell in the yard of the property and onto a privacy fence.

Dealing with other matters at Monday’s meeting, the CRA board took the following actions:

  •  Approved the minutes of their October 2018 meeting.

  •  Reviewed the status of the CRA funds.

  •  Requested a resume from Gina Pippin who is being vetted as a possible new board member.

  •  Set a Dec. 4th meeting at 3:30 p.m.
