Hurricane Michael Impacts to Cultural Heritage in Northwest Florida

By | November 30, 2018

This October, Hurricane Michael tore through the eastern portion of the Florida Panhandle. High winds and storm surge caused significant damage to many homes, schools, and businesses. While the road to recovery is still a long one, FPAN has been reaching out to our many partnering heritage sites and museums in the area to offer assistance where we can provide it.

Some heritage sites, like Governor Stone and the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement, are already looking toward rebuilding and are  seeking donations or volunteer support.

If you are aware of a heritage site or organization in need of assistance with securing collections, assessing cultural resources, or finding guidance and information, please reach out to Barbara Clark or Nicole Grinnan. As areas become accessible, we can help coordinate efforts as needed.
