Released by the Florida Highway Patrol
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that two Chipley residents and a Dothan, Alabama woman received minor injuries in a Nov. 29th crash in Jackson County.
According to the FHP, Joseph Aaron Weeks, 38, and Kari Miranda Sasser, 35, both of Chipley, received minor injuries, as did Vickie Ann Smith, 37, of Dothan, in the crash.
The FHP reports that Weeks was driving a Chevrolet Silverado northbound on State Road 77 attempting to flee from a marked Chipley Police Department patrol vehicle at the time of the incident. Smith was southbound on the highway. The Chevrolet traveled onto the east shoulders of the roadway and the driver over corrected back to the left. The vehicle then traveled back onto the roadway rotating counter clockside. The vehicle then traveled across the center yellow line and into the southbound lane.
The left front of the Nissan Murano driven by Smith collided with the right front of the Chevrolet. At this point the Silvardo began to overturn and the Nissan began to rotate counter clockwise.
The Silverado came to final rest in the southbound lane. The Nissan came to final rest on the west shoulder facing south.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Chipley Police Department, Jackson County Fire Rescue, Washington County EME and the Graceville Fire Department.
