TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This week Volunteer Florida thanked Comcast for its support of the Florida Disaster Fund and Hurricane

Michael recovery efforts. As part of a $700,000 donation – $350,000 directly to the Florida Disaster Fund and $350,000 in advertising

costs – Comcast is airing this public service announcement statewide (with the exception of the affected areas).

“Comcast is a long-standing supporter of the Florida Disaster Fund,” said David Mica, Jr., CEO of Volunteer Florida. “We’re grateful

for the opportunity to continue that partnership and collaborate on this PSA in an effort to help Floridians who have been affected

by Hurricane Michael.”

The Florida Disaster Fund, administered by the Volunteer Florida Foundation, is the state fund established to assist Florida’s

communities after disasters. It was activated by Governor Rick Scott in response to Hurricane Michael. To donate to the Florida

Disaster Fund, please visit www.volunteerflorida.org/donatefdf or text “DISASTER” ($10) or “DISASTER25” ($25) to 20222.

“I’m proud of Comcast’s support of the Florida Disaster Fund. We know that this PSA and resulting donations will benefit the people

of the Florida Panhandle and allow them to recover from Hurricane Michael,” said Derek Cooper, Vice President of Government

Affairs & Community Impact for Comcast’s Florida Region.

On October 10th, Hurricane Michael tore through the Florida Panhandle.

Flooding reached ceilings; roofs caved in; and homes, businesses and schools – whole communities – were destroyed.

For weeks, the damage was plastered on the front page of every newspaper and constantly shown on TV. But now the cameras are

gone, and the people of the Panhandle still desperately need help.

Through the Florida Disaster Fund, Volunteer Florida is offering that help, ensuring that the region recovers and emerges stronger than

ever before.
