On Sunday, December 16, 2018, Speaker T.K. Wetherell passed away. Speaker T.K. Wetherell served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1980-1992, and was the Speaker of the House for his last term in office. After serving in the Florida House, he became president of Tallahassee Community College. Speaker T.K. Wetherell then served as president of Florida State University from 2003 until 2010.

As a symbol of respect for the memory of Speaker T.K. Wetherell, and his service to Florida, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the campuses of Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University, Leon County Courthouse in Tallahassee, Florida, the City Hall in Tallahassee, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida from sunrise to sunset on Friday, December 21, 2018.
